What "ye are gods" really means in the Bible
When I was in the new age, I really believed that "ye are gods" meant that you and I were demi-gods. Then I read the Bible, and discovered that this is a misinterpretation. The verse actually applies specifically to magistrates, judges, and the Pharisees. It means that people view judges and religious leaders as "gods," so they need to behave ethically and not betray this trust. It also means that Jesus identifying himself as the Son of God to the Pharisees was not blasphemous, as they were accusing him. The serpent in the garden lied to Eve, and told her she would "be like God" if she ate the forbidden fruit. The devil's lies continue today, and we must be so cautious not to fall for them. This video is from the October 12 Bible Support and Encouragement Group video on vimeo.com/DoreenVirtue is this excerpt of commentary from gotquestions.org about Psalm 82:6 "ye are gods."
